Violin Lessons
I offer violin lessons from beginner to advanced to students seven years old and up. I teach my violin students in the classical style using the Suzuki and Barbara Barber Solos for Young Violinists books. I supplement their solo pieces with various scale studies and etude books such as I Can Read Music, String Builder, Barbara Barber's Scales for Young Violinists, Wohlfahrt, Mazas, and Kreutzer to provide emphasis on improving technique and sight reading. My violin students have performed in church services, school talent shows, as well as our yearly recitals in Bryan. In lessons we practice performance skills and techniques such as visualization, stage presence, and confidence building exercises. I find that many of my violin students not only become better musicians through our lessons together but they also develop important life skills through music study like time management, self-discipline, self-confidence, and goal setting. I truly love teaching and watching these young violinists grow throughout our time in lesssons together.
How it Works
Once a student reaches out to me about violin or piano lessons I will schedule a free trial and meet and greet for that student. The purpose of the trial lesson is for both of us to see if we are a good fit. I also use trial lessons to determine if a student is ready for formal violin or piano lessons and what method books would benefit them best. For the last 5-10 minutes of the trial lesson I like to go over questions and policy information. If everything goes well and we decide to proceed with lessons we sign a lesson contract and reserve your spot in my weekly studio schedule. I split the year into three semesters that are each about four months long. Students pay upfront per semester and are guaranteed a certain amount of private violin or piano lessons each semester. Lessons are taught in my home in Bryan, Texas.
